Hattakam Village,Ban Don Luang
Ban Don Luang, Mae Raeng Subdistrict, Pa Sang District, Lamphun, is a nationally renowned center for handwoven cotton with a history of over 200 years. Originally called 'Ban Ko Thon,' it was settled by the Yong community who migrated from Chiang Rung, Sipsongpanna. During the reign of King Kawila, they were relocated to restore Lamphun and established their settlement on high ground, renaming it Ban Don Luang. With the construction of roads through Pa Sang, weaving became a primary source of income, replacing farming. Many weavers worked in local textile factories, learning new techniques and contemporary patterns. Bringing this knowledge back to the village, they developed Yong weaving into diverse and advanced designs.Today, Ban Don Luang is one of the largest handwoven cotton production centers in Thailand, offering a wide range of modern products such as clothing, shawls, pillows, curtains, table linens, and souvenirs. These products are sold both domestically and internationally.
