This learning center is dedicated to traditional handwoven textiles and the preservation of Lamphun’s weaving heritage. Operated under the supervision of the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization, it aims to promote and develop the local textile market, create stable and meaningful careers, and safeguard local knowledge. The center also strives to enhance the quality of Lamphun handwoven fabrics by introducing new designs and patterns that reflect the province’s unique identity.
The premises include a museum that serves as a cultural learning space, showcasing the history of weaving and the evolution of local textiles. The most renowned product is the Lamphun Yok Dok Silk, celebrated as the Queen of Brocade Silk and the only textile of its kind in Thailand.
Its origin traces back to Princess Dara Rasmi, who developed the weaving technique and transformed the patterns into garments for the nobility. Today, Lamphun Yok Dok Silk is officially registered as a Geographical Indication (GI) product.
