Wat San Pa Yang Luang is an ancient temple of Lamphun, famous for its stunning Buddhist art and intricate stucco work. It is widely considered one of the ten most beautiful temples in Thailand. The temple features the Phra Khiao Khong Viharn, built with rare hardwood pillars such as takhian thong and mai daeng, sourced from Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. The design and construction were led by Phra Khruba In, the abbot, who blended traditional and modern Lanna styles. The temple’s white stucco carvings are graceful and decorate structures from the main gate to inner halls. Visitors can explore the viharn, ubosot, Buddha images, and various sculptures, all showcasing the delicate and elegant craftsmanship of Lanna-style art.
