The replica of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda in Lamphun Province features an amazingly balanced rock formation, believed by locals to be a sacred site. In a show of faith, people from Lamphun and neighboring provinces came together to build a small stupa atop the uppermost boulder, modeled after the original pagoda in Myanmar. To witness its beauty, visitors must walk up a 500-meter staircase along a gently sloping forest trail, shaded and serene. Before the climb, the temple provides construction materials—such as rocks, soil, and sand—for devotees to carry up as an act of devotion.
